The Scientific Advice Mechanism will present its latest scientific advice on advanced materials to the European Commission.
During this official handover, the advice will be delivered to Ekaterina Zaharieva, European Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation.
Advanced materials—ranging from superconductors used in computing to biomaterials for medical applications and innovative energy solutions—play a key role across sectors such as construction, mobility, electronics, energy, and health. Despite Europe’s strong scientific base, challenges remain in translating discoveries into sustainable and competitive applications.
The event marks the release of two key documents:
- An Evidence Review Report by SAPEA
A Scientific Opinion by the Group of Chief Scientific Advisors, outlining policy recommendations for the European Commission - These contributions support the development of the upcoming Advanced Materials Act.
The event will be streamed live, and all reports will be published online at the same time. The full SAPEA report and the policy recommendations of the Group of Chief Scientific Advisors will be published and available to read online at the same time on that page.
