Frequently Asked Questions:

InnoMatSyn values the contribution of all organizations that fund or co-fund AdMa-related projects, initiatives or activities, and/or manage cascade funds. Generally speaking, the project aims at engaging with all organizations with the knowledge and expertise to identify strategic priorities for future R&I agendas, to co-define common approaches to AdMa funding, and/or to discuss needs, challenges and opportunities in reducing fragmentation across the EU, national and regional funding lanscape.

The InnoMatSyn consortium is keen to collect feedback from a diverse range of professional profiles representing Funding Bodies, such as innovation managers, programme managers, policy officers and advisors, technical experts, grant administrators, evaluation specialists, and many others.

Funding Bodies are invited to contribute to project activities based on their time and interests by:

  • Sharing best practices (e.g., in project monitoring and follow-up systems, standardization efforts, leakage risk assessment, etc.);
  • Identifying topics of interest, needs, challenges, and emerging priorities for future R&I agendas at the EU, national, and regional level;
  • Providing recommendations for decision-makers and key EU actors in AdMa R&I agenda setting;
  • Exchanging knowledge about current R&I agendas in different countries and regions;
  • Validating main project results through interactive sessions (e.g., technology leakage risk mitigation strategies);
  • Co-creating strategic and thematic recommendations for future joint calls for proposals.
  • These activities will be facilitated by InnoMatSyn project partners through ad hoc methodologies and collaborative exercises developed within the consortium.
Engagement is flexible and volutary: each representative can decide which activities to join, according to their schedule, interests and priorities. We mainly expect participants to take part in 3 hybrid workshops over the next 3 years (one per year), which will serve as key opportunities to exchange feedback, and access exclusive project results and co-develop recommendations for the content of future joint calls. Additionally, Funding Bodies may be invited to short online activities such as webinars, working group sessions, interviews or quick surveys, regularly communicated via the project newsletter.
Our consortium is committed to keeping participation efficient and respectful of (often) limited time availability.

No. InnoMatSyn is a Coordination and Support Action (CSA): as such, it does not create new funding schemes or launch joint calls in the implementation phase. Instead, it acts as a facilitator, supporting Funding Bodies in the co-development of recommendations for the content of future joint calls and promoting synergies among existing mechanisms and initiatives.

Funding Bodies will be invited to attend 3 hybrid co-creation workshops, where they will have the opportunity to engage in cross-sectoral and multilevel discussions on:

The current funding landscape and opportunities for improvement;

  • Recommendations for better alignment of national and regional funding schemes with EU objectives;
  • Roadmaps toward future joint calls (priorities, needs and challenges to overcome);
  • Thematic priorities to include in future calls for proposal.

For organizations funding or co-funding R&I projects in the AdMa field, engaging with InnoMatSyn means:

  • Having a seat at the table to shape future joint calls through innovative co-creation methodologies;
  • Connecting with fellow experts and decision-makers across Europe;
  • Building meaningful, long-term collaborations with leading EU AdMa actors;
  • Accessing exclusive project results about the current and future EU AdMa ecosystem;
  • Sharing knowledge and best practices to support the alignment of funding priorities;
  • Validating state-of-the-art project results and tools, such as the AI-based materials repository;
  • Contributing to shape future policies on standardisation, infrastructure, and cross-border coordination;
  • Boosting the visibility of your work through the project's wide network and the broader EU AdMa community, including the Innovative Advanced Materials Initiatives (IAM-I) and the European Commission itself.
